Hokkaido, north of Japan, has a different culture and history from the main island of Japan. The flora and fauna are different, and its past is complicated. A legend remains on the Notsuke Peninsula in the northeastern part of Hokkaido. Through this legend, the Yezo deer living in Hokkaido intricately cross over into historical event. This film considers the coexistence of wild animals and humans.
The Ainu are indigenous people of Japan who are thought
to have lived in a major part of Japan in ancient times.
They were pushed northward by the Yamato race who
are the predominant Japanese. Very few Ainu still maintain their
traditional culture.
In Ainu language, God is called Kamuy.
